Mothers Day weekend brought some heavy southeast winds which gave the island some ample surf to call the Port Aransas Open on!

Surf was in the chest to head high range with some chop, creating very challenging conditions.  With heavy winds in the 20-35mph range, the sun came out and gave us two beautiful days for our TGSA family to enjoy.

Thankfully the current was minimal for most of the weekend creating an excellent day for some of our up and coming young groms to show us that the future of TGSA surfing is in good hands.

Highlights include the Micro-groms who battled through some tough conditions, with Isabelle, Connor and Chase Kryger, and Grace Cunningham making it to the finals!! Connor, Isabelle and Chase Kryger took 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and Grace took 4th!

TGSA is looking forward to the State Championships and the showdown looming between teams Dockside White and Wind and Wave A for the team title, as both teams are currently tied in first place!

To sum up this awesome weekend for everyone, in the words of G Scott: “This is literally the LAST shot I took this weekend, and it sums up EVERYTHING. That exhausted, sunburnt, eyes-closed smile….”

Taylor Blades, summing up that satisfied feeling after a weekend of sun, sand and good surf.
