The TGSA/Texas Surf Camps Port Aransas Grom Roundup was held under beautiful sunny skies on Saturday the 22nd of August.
In spite of the very hot and balmy conditions, the kids and adults alike had a wonderful day full of lots of stoke!
Waves were in the thigh to waist high range and perfect for all the new Groms to get their feet wet and experience a contest for the first time.
The TGSA All Stars were present to give the little groms a hand in and out of the water.
There were many smiles from some of our littlest and newest groms to the TGSA family.
TGSA’s more experienced surfers competed in Exhibition heats to show the younger kids how an open season contest is run. Both the boys and the girls divisions had some heavy competition, promising an exciting year to come this season.
A raffle was also held to benefit the TGSA All Star team and help support their travels outside of Texas in the coming competition year. Thank you Morgan Faulkner and Texas Surf Camps for donating the Body Glove board for the raffle!
TGSA would like to thank Morgan Faulkner and his Texas Surf Camp crew for helping put on such a great day for all the kids and their families, and to Scott Ellwood of G Scott Imaging for capturing the stoke!
A great time was had by all, and with that, the TGSA 2015-016 season has now officially begun!
Our first contest, the South Padre Island Open was called OFF the weekend of September 12-13th due to minimal, non-contestable surf. This event will now be move to the back of the schedule in February / March 2016. A new date will be posted as soon as possible. Next event is the Packery Channel Open to be held October 10th/11th. If you wish, your SPI Open entries will be rolled over to the Packery Channel Open.
More event details will be published in the near future. Remember, you must have a membership to TGSA to compete in all Open events.
